This style of Yoga focuses on Asana (Yoga postures) and Prana (breath control). Hatha’s meaning, forceful or willful, refers to the postures opening up the channels of the body to allow energy to flow more freely.
The word itself is translated from sanskrit as “to place in a special way”. Therefore, Vinyasa classes sequence postures in a flowing way along natural movement paths.
A passive practice that utilizes seated, supine and prone postures in order to ultimately help one sit longer and more comfortably in meditation.
