Competitive Dance Programs
Etoile offers two competitive programs for dancers in grades 3+. This professional experience is offered to our students who want MORE from their dance training. Dancers that love to perform, have a strong sense of dedication + a passion for dance are encouraged to join!
These comprehensive programs train our artists in various dance styles and provide numerous performance and competitive opportunities.
ROOKIE TEAM
Our Rookie Team serves as a prelude to our Artist Apprentice Program. This team is dedicated to dancers in Grades 3+, who want to further their technique and experience more performance opportunities throughout the dance season. Rookie team dancers meet for separate rehearsals in addition to their regularly scheduled technique classes - all while having a blast making lifelong dance friends. They get to participate in 3+ public performances throughout the year, as well as one competition.

Dancers must be entering Grades 3+ as of September 1st, 2024
3 Hours of Class Each Week (Ballet, Jazz + Tap)
10 Summer Dance Hours Completed at Etoile*
Additional Choreography/Rehearsal Time on Friday afternoon/evenings*
ARTIST APPRENTICE TEAM
Etoile’s Artist Apprentice Team is our studio’s performance and competition-based team. Dancers entering Grade 5 or higher as of September 1st, 2024, who love to perform, have a strong passion for dance, and are dedicated teammates, are encouraged to join! The Artist Apprentice Program aims to create a safe space for our advanced dancers to progress their technique and performance quality. Dancers in our program gain experience learning various choreographed pieces that are performed at select competitions and community events. Artist Apprentice dancers meet for separate rehearsals and are expected to maintain regular attendance in their weekly technique classes. We ask for a lot of hard work from our team dancers and we set high expectations for them throughout the year. With that work, however, comes the most fun, memorable experiences, and LIFELONG friends! Come join our dance family!

Dancers must be entering 5th Grade as of September 1st, 2024
5+ hours of Class each week (Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Strength + Conditioning + Tap)
Participation in Etoile’s Summer Dance Intensive (20 hrs)*
Monday, July 22 - Friday, July 26
Additional Choreography/Rehearsal Time*
**Dancers who would like to be considered for Solos, Duets, and/or Trios must take at least 2 Ballet classes each week and have attended at least one Summer Technique Session in addition to our Summer Intensive

Why Join our Artist Apprentice Program?
Our program is a one-of-a-kind dance experience that is structured in a uniquely positive environment. We are here because we love how dance moves people to improve, and we want to grow together as a dance family. Dancers will be encouraged to express their own voices, styles, and the uniqueness through movement.
We also want to help your dancers grow technically, artistically, emotionally, and spiritually throughout their team experience. We want all of our students to gain self-confidence through our class design & rehearsal process. Our goal is to showcase each dancers’ individuality through our performances.

How Do I Join?
You must audition in order to join Team! Reserving your spot at the audition is easy! You can do so from your personal portal.
How much does it cost to audition?
Our auditions are free to the public.
What are the additional costs for a team dancer?
Families are responsible for entry fees, convention fees, misc. performance fees, and the cost of small group and/or solo/duet/trio costumes. Payments are divided into two installments due on November 15th and January 15th. Costs are dependent on the number of routines a dancer is invited to participate in.
How many routines will my dancer have?
Artist Apprentice Team is guaranteed three group routines. Based on auditions and requirements, dancers will be invited to participate in additional routines (i.e. solos/duets/trios). Rookie Team learns one routine.
When are team rehearsals held?
If you get accepted as a Team dancer, rehearsals are typically held on Friday nights. Additional rehearsal hours may be scheduled throughout the week/weekend, but we work out a schedule with our dance families to the best of our ability.
What happens if my dancer has to miss a rehearsal?
We understand that life happens and you may have to miss a rehearsal due to illness or family emergencies. However, it is the dancer’s responsibility to learn any missed choreography prior to the next rehearsal.
What happens if my dancer misses a weekly technique class?
As a team member, you are held to a high standard in the studio. Again we understand conflicts may arise, but you may not miss more than 5 class days per season. If your dancer is going to miss a technique class, please contact us to schedule a makeup.
Is my dancer able to participate in school sports or take vacations while on Team?
School sports are absolutely possible, but you will need to discuss the season and schedule with us prior to committing to the team; Vacations will need to be planned to align with our studio schedule and closures.
How many competitions + public performances will the Team participate in?
The Artist Apprentice Team will compete at 2-3 select competitions during the months of February - May and participate in 3+ public performances. The Rookie Team will compete at 1 select competition and participate in the same 3+ public performances.
Will there be an informational meeting?
Absolutely! After our auditions are held, we will contact parent(s) to set up an informational parent meeting which will be held in early October.
